Police Find Mother And Daughter Dead

"TULSA, OK — Tulsa Police are investigating what they call a tragic murder-suicide in the 2400 block of South Marion Avenue.

"Police were called to the Midtown home around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night after the woman's sister received a threatening letter in the mail from the woman. Authorities say the letter said the mother was going kill her daughter and take her own life.

"A TPD Captain says when crews arrived at the house on Tuesday night they found the bodies of the mother and child shot to death on a bedroom floor. Police say the mother shot her daughter while she was in bed in her pajamas, and she then turned the gun on herself.

"Officers called out to the house say it's a day they hope they `never have to repeat.` Captain Travis Yates say this case hits close to home for those who have children.

"`We do what we do everyday and work the most professional way we can. We try to console the family members. We try to console neighbors that are very upset, and we just hope and pray that we can keep this from happening in the future,` says Yates.

"Police say they have been called to the home in the last couple of months about a disturbance. Captain Yates says the past few weeks had been tense for the family. `A couple of weeks ago when we were called out here on a disturbance and it was the husband who was moving out of the house. There was an altercation, a disturbance there.`

"Police hope they can keep this from happening in the future."
