Double Shooting Is Attempted Murder/Suicide

"MONROE, NC — Police in Monroe are investigating a double shooting that left one man dead and another man injured.

"According to the Monroe Police Department, officers were called to the 500 block of North Sutherland Avenue around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening to the reports of a person shot.

"When officers arrived, they found 56-year-old Houston Alexander Wingo with a gunshot wound.

"While on scene, officer learned of another gunshot victim at an apartment along McArthur Circle.

"When officers arrived at the apartment, they found the body of 37-year-old Christopher Eleairoh Ludlow.

"Wingo was transported to Carolinas Medical Center-Main where he is listed in critical condition as of Monday morning.

"`It was determined that an altercation between Wingo and Ludlow took place at this residence,` police told WBTV on Monday. `All indications look like this was an attempted murder/suicide.`"
