Family And Neighbors "Shell-Shocked"
"LUDHIANA, India - In a spine-chilling incident, poverty apparently forced a 40-year-old drug addict to allegedly stab his wife and two little children to death before setting himself and them on fire. All four of the family belonging to New Angad Colony in Shimlapuri succumbed to injuries.
"According to information, Harcharan Singh Channa, a carpenter, took the drastic step on Wednesday night, leaving his surviving family members and neighbours shell-shocked.
"Said to be in dire straits financially, Channa allegedly killed his wife Harminder Kaur, 35, and kids Jaswinder Kaur, 10, and Manpreet Singh, 6, with a sharp-edged weapon. While Jaswinder was in Class III, Manpreet was a student of Class I in New Senior Secondary School at Shimlapuri, said Channa’s mother Kulwant Kaur."
