Longtime Friendship Ends Abruptly

"ELIZABETHTON, TN – Authorities have released the names of two men who died of gunshot wounds in an apparent murder-suicide on Dry Creek Road overnight.

"According to a news release from the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to 1180 Dry Creek about 12:07 this morning after receiving reports of a shooting at that location.

"Deputies found one handgun and the bodies of two men.

"The shooter was identified as Robert B. McKinney, 40, 102 Rainbows End, Roan Mountain.

"The other victim was identified as Grover E. Richardson, 56, 1180 Dry Creek.

"Sheriff Chris Mathes said in the news release that the incident appeared to be a murder-suicide, because each victim only had one gunshot wound. The men had seemingly been longtime friends, the news release said."
