Victim Survives Murder/Suicide Attempt
"Sneads, FL - On July 13, 2009 at approximately 6:33 a.m. the Sneads Police Department received a call from 7892 Broken Oak Dr. reporting that a disturbance was occurring at that residence. Officers from the Sneads Police and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded. When officers arrived it was discovered that Robert Earl Cruse had traveled to this residence on Broken Oak Dr. where his wife, Kenyatta Cruse was staying. This address is the home of Ms. Cruse’s parents. Ms. Cruse’s parents had left the residence to go to work, leaving Ms. Cruse in the residence with her children and sister.
"Ms. Cruse told officers that Robert Earl Cruse had broken into the residence and had attacked her with a knife, stabbing her in the left upper part of her body.
"Just prior to the officers’ arrival, Cruse fled the area on foot. As officers were talking with the victim and accessing the situation they heard a gunshot in a wooded area near the home.
"Officers then found Robert Earl Cruse laying dead on a trail near the residence from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound."
