Two Dead In "Quiet Neighborhood"
"Gahanna, OH - A woman and her adult son were found dead last night in their Gahanna home in a quiet neighborhood just west of Gahanna-Lincoln High School.
"Detectives are investigating the deaths as a possible murder-suicide, said Gahanna Police Deputy Chief Ken Bell.
"Bell said officers went to 153 Douglas Dr. shortly before 7 p.m. after someone called expressing concern about the homeowner.
"Next-door neighbor Vaughn Dodridge said he made that call after a co-worker of the homeowner, Maureen E. Gilbert, came to his house to say she was worried because Gilbert hadn't shown up for work and wasn't answering her door.
"Dodridge said that he and his wife also had knocked on the door and shouted through open windows. They decided to call police after seeing chairs toppled in the house, he said.
"Bell said that when police arrived, they found Gilbert, 57, and her 20-year-old son, Paul S. Leibrand, dead inside. Bell said both had been shot to death.
"Police will await the results of autopsies today before reaching a conclusion on the circumstances of the deaths, the chief said.
"Dodridge said he saw the body of a woman lying in the doorway when police opened the front door of the house.
"`That's an image I'll never get out of my head,` Dodridge said last night."

Maureen was one of my college roommates at OSU. She was such a bright woman, but often troubled. When she was "up," she was a blast to be with, but when she was down, it was severe. How very sad...
