"There Was A Shotgun Involved"

"GENESEE TOWNSHIP, MI — Police said the incident involving a man and woman found dead in a home this afternoon appeared to be a homicide-suicide.

"Genesee Township police didn’t identify the victims in that incident Monday.

"Lt. John Mullaly said the two were ex-husband and wife. He said one was shot multiple times and the other once. He wouldn't say which did the shooting.

"A family member of the male victim arrived at the home as police were investigating at around 3:30 p.m. He walked up to the caution tape, spoke with police, then dropped down to his knees before being comforted by neighbors.

"Mullaly said the two victims were in their 30s. The man lived at the home. The woman did not.

"`It's being further investigated,` he said. `There was a shotgun involved.`

"Robert Lalonde of Genesee Township was caught by surprise when he saw police and caution tape surrounding the home where the homicide-suicide occurred on 5907 Richfield Road near Genesee Road.

"He rear-ended a police vehicle while driving by the scene.

"He said crime is rare in that neighborhood.

"`It surprised me when I seen this,` said Lalonde, 37, `and I usually drive this way a lot.`"
