Deputies Witness Murder And Suicide

"GROVER, NC — A husband and wife are dead following an apparent murder-suicide in Cleveland County.

"Deputies were called to North Main Street in Grover just after 10 p.m. Saturday night.

"Sheriff Alan Norman says when a deputy arrived at the scene he saw 60-year-old Dennis Moss shoot his wife, 39-year-old Dawn Moss.

"Norman says the deputy returned fire in an effort to protect the woman, but did not hit Moss.

"The husband then led authorities on a short car chase. A second deputy attempted to stop Moss. He [Moss] later turned the gun on himself.

"Dennis Moss was pronounced dead at the scene, his wife later died at the hospital.

"The couple leaves behind two children."
