Police "Have Nothing To Go On" In Death Of Elderly Pair

"HUNTINGTON PARK, CA — Huntington Park police were still trying to determine Wednesday why a 72-year-old Huntington Park man killed his 69-year-old wife before committing suicide.

"A family member walked into a home in the 2600 block of East 56th Street and found the bodies about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Sgt. David Cassidy of the Huntington Park Police Department.

"The couple was identified as Adalberto and Juana Reyes, said Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County coroner's office. Autopsies were pending to determine what caused their deaths, but Winter said Adalberto Reyes' death was listed as a suicide and his wife's as a homicide.

"Cassidy declined to say whether the couple had any apparent wounds, citing the investigation. Detectives were working to determine what prompted the incident, he said.

"`We're still interviewing family members trying to figure this out,` he said. `We have nothing to go on.`"
