Pair Pronounced Dead In Parking Lot
"APPLE VALLEY, MN — A man and woman found dead in the parking lot of an Apple Valley apartment complex on Saturday, July 14, were at one point in a relationship and had children together, according to Apple Valley police.
"Police responded to the South Cedar Knolls Apartment Complex at 12790 Germane Ave. at 8:37 a.m. There had been reports that a man was chasing after a woman in the parking lot and was shooting at her. Witnesses told police that the man shot the woman and then turned the gun on himself.
"Police found the man and woman, both 41, in the parking lot. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Police found a shotgun near the bodies.
"Police have not identified the victims, though they have said the woman lived at the apartment complex and the man lived in Eagan. Their bodies have been taken to the Minnesota regional medical examiner's office in Hastings for autopsies.
"The woman's two children were with a baby sitter at the time of the incident and were not injured. They are now in protective custody.
"Apple Valley police Capt. Michael Marben said he didn't know of any past calls to the apartment complex that pertained to the man and woman."
