Victim And Perp Survive Throat Slashing

"ELLICOTT, COA man and woman were both flown to separate hospitals by helicopter Wednesday morning. After more than a day of investigation, deputies have charged the male with attempted murder.

"El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt. Jeff Kramer says deputies were sent to the 2300 block of Wheat Street in Ellicott around 6:09 a.m. Wednesday after receiving several 911 calls from the area. Originally, they would only describe the circumstances as a `disturbance.`

"Thursday afternoon, Lt. Kramer said the first call 911 dispatchers received from the area was a hang-up. Eventually, they spoke with a neighbor who told them a man was there with a severe injury to his throat.

"Arriving deputies found both Paul and Rae Ann Thompson had injuries to their throats, and both were flown by helicopter to hospitals where they underwent emergency surgery.

"Deputies say they later determined that Paul Thompson was responsible for both injuries. He is currently in stable condition and under guard at a hospital. His wife’s condition is described as serious but stable.

"Paul Thompson is charged with attempted murder, assault and domestic violence. He will be held on $500,000 bond."
