All-Night Argument Ends In Attempted Murder/Suicide

"GREENWOORD, AR — Sebastian County Sheriff's Department Capt. Kevin Nickson confirmed that, early Tuesday morning, deputies were called out to an attempted murder-suicide.

"A Laotian husband and wife were staying with a friend just west of Greenwood at the Highway 10/Highway 253 intersection.

"The couple had been arguing all night. Nickson said the husband shot the wife in the head with a .22 magnum long rifle. The wife is in critical condition at an area hospital.

"The husband then fatally shot himself with the same weapon, Nickson said.

"A neighbor who lives across the street from the home, Gaylon Foot, said he heard screaming coming from the home early Tuesday morning.

"`I heard some lady screaming. I was in shock. I didn't know if it was the one that got shot,` Foot said."
