Lady Shooter's Motive Unknown In Condo Murder/Suicide

"PORT TOWNSEND, WA — A Discovery Bay woman apparently killed herself with a gunshot wound after allegedly shooting her husband first in what appeared to be a murder-suicide attempt late Wednesday evening.

"The man died en route to a hospital.

"KOMO-TV reported early today that authorities were called around 10:20 p.m. to a shooting at a WorldMark Discovery Bay Condominiums unit on Orcas Island Drive, said Chief Gordon Pomeroy with East Jefferson Fire-Rescue. When deputies and firefighters arrived, they found the woman and man, both in their 60s, both shot.

"The woman died on the way to the hospital in Port Townsend. Because of foul weather near the scene, the man was being taken to a Bremerton hospital in the hopes of being flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle when he died.

"Investigators said the woman shot the man in the chest, then committed suicide.

"Neither person's name was released pending notification of family members.

"The WorldMark condo complex is off U.S. Highway 101 between the towns of Gardiner and Discovery Bay."
