"Everything Seemed So Normal"
"COLUMBUS, GA — A Columbus couple were found dead in their house Wednesday afternoon in what is being investigated as a possible murder-suicide, according to Sgt. Matt Blackstock of the Columbus Police Department.
"Alisha and Christopher Kendrick of 727 Greenbriar Drive, who according to family members had married in August, were pronounced dead at the scene.
"Muscogee County Coroner Bill Thrower said he ordered an autopsy be conducted today, and that the bodies would be sent to Atlanta sometime this morning. He said both victims appeared to have received gunshot wounds.
"A co-worker of Alisha Kendrick’s, worried because she hadn’t reported to her job as a dispatcher for the Georgia Department of Public Safety, drove to the house around 4:30 p.m. and discovered the couple inside, said Beulah Armes, who lives across the street.
Armes said she heard the co-worker banging on the door and calling Kendrick’s name for several minutes. When she went to see if she could help, the co-worker told her to stay away from the house. Police began to arrive soon thereafter.
"`I’m shocked,` Armes said. `Everything seemed so normal.`
"Police could not confirm many details late Wednesday, but interviews with neighbors suggested the shootings may have happened as early as Tuesday night."
