Home Had No Record Of Violence

"SHERIDAN, AR — Police have released the names of two people found dead just before 10:30am in the house at 411 West Center Street. Investigators think 37-year-old James Sellman killed his ex-wife Malena, who was 36, then killed himself.

"This is the first murder of the year in Sheridan. The double murder last Friday was in the same county and several miles down the road. Neighbors and investigators say these things just don't happen here.

"Traffic was near a crawl near with passersby trying to see through the trucks, the tape, and the tarp.

"Misty Mayo said, `Its nothing like Sheridan. This is a quiet place. Everybody knows everybody. Everybody's friendly.`

"Mayo lives a few streets away from the scene. She passes the house on her way to church. All she knew was a couple with kids lived here.

"`I feel for the boys because there's so much stress on the world,` she said.

"When Sheridan Police Chief Bob Adams walked inside the home he found a man and a woman shot in the head. Adams says police have no record of violence here. He says the couple was divorced but still friends.

"Inside, though, told a different story. Investigators say it appears the man shot the woman first and then himself.

"`Was there any struggle? Well there is some evidence of disarray inside the house,` said Chief Adams."
