Mother And Son Found Dead In Car

"ELY, NV — A 64-year-old North Las Vegas man shot his mother, 83, with a handgun before killing himself with the same gun sometime on Dec. 9 near the intersection of 212 North at US Highway 93, in an apparent murder-suicide, White Pine County Sheriff's Department Captain Scott Henriod said.

"According to a North Las Vegas Police Department report, Henriod said, the wife of Thomas Turbeville and daughter-in-law of Glenda Turbeville, filed a missing persons' report on Dec. 8. The wife told NLVPD officers her mother-in-law had dementia, and she and her husband had discussed putting her in a nursing home. A passing motorist, whom Henriod declined to identify, discovered the couple in a Toyota passenger car and knocked on the window, thinking they were asleep, Henriod said. The bodies were transported by ambulance to William B. Ririe Hospital and later to Mountain Vista Chapel before being returned to North Las Vegas, Henriod said."
