Road Crew Finds Bodies In Parked Car

"PERRY COUNTY, IL — Perry County authorities are investigating a possible murder-suicide near Pinckneyville.

"A road crew found two people dead around 2:00 p.m. Friday inside a car at the intersection of Pyatt-Cutler Road and Old State Route 13/127. It is about a quarter mile west of the intersection of IL-152 and IL-13/127.

"The road crew employee told dispatchers he saw blood and a gun inside the parked car.

"`The deaths may be the result of a murder/suicide incident,` Perry County Sheriff Keith Kellerman said in a release Friday evening.

"Authorities have identified those victims as Joseph Swallers, 59, and Irene Swallers, 49, both of Du Quoin."
