3 Year Old Sleeps Through Grandparents' Murder/Suicide

"SHREVEPORT, LA — Shreveport Police believe some kind of argument led to an apparent murder-suicide in south Shreveport early Monday morning.

"Police have identified the victims as 49-year-old Carolyn Douglas and her husband, 40-year-old Ryan Douglas. They had reportedly been married about seven years.

"Police think Ryan Douglas shot his wife several times in one part of the house before going to another room and shooting himself.

"Investigators say they got a 911 call Monday morning about a domestic dispute and shots fired at a home on 831 Flournoy Lucas Road, near Kingston Rd. The call came from inside the home from the couple's daughter.

"The SWAT team was called out and entered the home about 6:00 a.m. Inside they found Carolyn Douglas dead in a family room and Ryan Douglas dead in a bedroom.

"The daughter's 3-year-old son, who was asleep inside the home, was brought out safely.

"Authorities believe the little boy was the couple's grandchild.

"Part of Flournoy Lucas Rd. near the crime scene has been shut down to traffic."

  1. As dominant as suicidal tendencies are in the U.S., making the resources for people to call a therapist available can be difficult. It’s good to know someone makes those resources available to the public.
