Home Invasion Preceded Murder/Suicide

"WEARE, NH — Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a man and woman at 1724 River Road in Weare this morning.

"`It appears the male killed the female, then killed himself,` Senior Assistant Attorney General Susan Morrell said.

"She would not release the names or ages of the victims, or their relationship to each other. A 911 call brought Weare police to the scene at 6:30 a.m.

"Morrell said 90 minutes earlier, the man involved in the apparent murder-suicide went to a home at 477 Concord Stage Road armed with a shotgun.

"He entered the residence and fired the gun, but it misfired, she said. No one was hurt.

"`We're trying to establish a motive for the home invasion,` Morrell said.

"She said it was `too soon to say` what weapon was used to kill the woman on River Road. A firearm appeared to be used in the suicide, she said.

"A stretch of River Road from Rockland Road to Concord Stage Road has been closed since early this morning as State Police and the Major Crimes Unit investigate.

"`I think all the residents I've talked to are shocked,` Weare Police Chief Gregory Begin said.

"Morrell said there is no indication the public is at risk."

  1. Wow. This has been one of the strangest cases ever and so far it's only about the victim.
