Death In The Paint Section
"CONCORD, NC — Police confirm two people, a man and a female employee, were shot and killed inside a Concord Lowe's Home Improvement store Monday. The shooting happened at the Dale Earnhardt Boulevard store just before 5:30 p.m.
"Ronnie Wilkerson, who was with his wife in the paint section, heard two shots and, at first, thought it was the sound of falling lumber.
"`We heard a real loud bang. About halfway down the aisle, then I heard another one,` he said.
"He said he approached the checkout lines and saw a man and a woman on the ground and unresponsive.
"`The shooter, you could tell he was dead. And the girl, I dont know if she was still alive or breathing. One of the employees was putting a shirt on her head to keep her from bleeding,` Wilkerson said.
"While police have yet to officially rule the shooting as a murder-suicide, authorities also said they weren't looking for anyone else.
"`There was nobody else involved in this incident and we do believe that they did know each other,` said Concord Police Chief Guy Smith.
"Police spent most of Monday evening conducting interviews and trying to piece together what happened. Concord police said to their knowledge, they had not dealt with any calls or incidents at that store before Monday's double shooting."
