Officers Find Two Dead In "Gruesome" Scene

"GLENDALE, AZ — Authorities say the deaths of two people found at the post office of Luke Air Force Base were a murder-suicide.

"Just before 7 p.m. Sunday, security officers and Glendale police responded to the base near Glendale Avenue and Litchfield Road.

"They found the bodies of a man and his wife in the post office on the base. They had been stabbed. The couple were reported missing earlier by their son.

"Security video showed the couple go into the mail center. Officers later came upon a `gruesome` scene.

"`From what I've been told, there's a small office in the back, one victim was sitting in a chair, and the other was lying on the floor, at the feet of the other victim,` says Major Jerry Mulhollen. It is unclear at this time which person was the suspect and which was the victim.

"The mail center is closed Monday. Operations and training continue as usual at the base.

"The man is retired Navy, and worked for the Luke AFB mail center. Base security was never compromised. No names have been released."
