"CARSON CITY, NV — Two people are dead after a gunman opened fire at a Carson City, Nev., Ihop restaurant, shooting eight people before killing himself.
"`There's seven in surgery either at Renown Medical Center in Reno and RMC in Carson,` said Chief Deputy Jack Freer.
"One person besides the gunman was dead at the scene, Freer said.
"`The suspect did die of a self inflicted gunshot wound. No shots were fired by law enforcement,` Freer said.
"Preliminary information is that the shooter is an ex-employee of the pancake house, Freer [said].
"The male shooter was seen running into the restaurant at 8:58 a.m. PDT."
