3 Dead, 6 Wounded In Workplace Murder/Suicide

"ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Police have released the identity of the man they believe responsible for killing two people and injuring four in an office shooting at 1600 Eubank at Emcore Fiber Optics near Kirtland Air Force Base in southeast Albuquerque.

"Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz said Robert Reza, 37, shot six people at the office building before turning the gun on himself, police said.

"Investigators said the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. in a conference room in the Emcore Fiber Optics building. Police have ruled the shooting a domestic dispute.

"Schultz said Reza, a former Emcore employee, came in armed with at least one handgun and seeking at least one target -- a girlfriend who currently works at Emcore.

"Schultz said Reza knew the former girlfriend's routine and confronted her outside the building, which started the sequence of events.

"Schultz said one victim died outside the facility after being confronted by Reza. Reza was found dead at the scene inside the building.

"Police said the common-law couple had two children, who were located in a Rio Rancho home are now in protective custody. The children are being interviewed by law enforcement.

"Another victim later died at University of New Mexico Hospital.

"Four other shooting victims are being treated at University of New Mexico Hospital.

"One is listed in guarded condition and two are listed in stable condition. The fourth victim, Reza's former girlfirend, is listed in critical condition, Schultz said."
