SWAT Called In To Best Western

"NORMAN, OK - Police are investigating an apparent kidnapping and murder-suicide.

"Officers found a woman and a man dead late Thursday in the parking lot of a Best Western in Norman.

"A woman reported missing Thursday morning from The Village was found dead in a car in the parking lot of the hotel, located at 2841 Classen Boulevard, early Thursday evening.

"`It appears to have the body of a female in the front passenger seat, with the back of the seat laid back,` said Norman police Capt. Tom Easley.

"Police had found the woman after calling her mobile phone and tracing it to that location in southeast Norman.

"Authorities believe the woman had been kidnapped by a man earlier in the day in what may have been a domestic dispute.

"SWAT teams were called to the hotel, and negotiators tried to communicate with a man barricaded inside of it. At about 7:15 p.m., officers said they heard a single gunshot, broke into the motel and found the man dead.

"Rachel Teener said she and her family were staying in a room just a few doors down.
`Of course, when they said, 'It's time to go,' we went,` she said. `(The kids) didn't have shoes on or anything.`

"She said the whole ordeal was scary.

"`I grew up in Norman, and you don't expect that kind of thing to happen around here,` she said.

"No names in the case have been released."
