"You Think You Know Your Neighbors"
"HENDERSON, TN — A Chester County couple is dead after a husband apparently killed his wife and then himself in their home Saturday morning, police said.
"The Chester County Sheriff's Department responded to the call in the 700 block of Lott Road around 8:15 a.m., according to Sheriff Blair Weaver.
"Weaver declined to release additional information, including the couple's names.
"Neighbors who lived near the couple's blue frame home said they did not hear or see anything until the couple's 6-year-old son knocked on a door and said he couldn't get back inside his house because the door was locked.
"After authorities arrived, they waited several hours to enter the home to ensure it was safe, neighbors said. On Saturday afternoon, all the windows in the home were boarded up with sheets of brown plywood.
"`We are outside — in and out — early this morning — and we never heard anything,` said Donna Crowe, who lives two houses down from the couple's home. `It's terrible — you think you know your neighbors until it comes down to something like this.`
"The couple also had a 13-year-old daughter. The family had moved in from California about a year ago and were great neighbors, Crowe said.
"`We didn't know them that well, but we'd wave at each other. They were nice and friendly,` she added. `It's scary — I guess something snaps in a person.`
"Crowe said she didn't know if the couple had family back in California or where the children will be staying.
"`That is what hurts the most — I feel for the children,` she said."
