Man Found Dead After Shooting Ex-Girlfriend


"SOUTHFIELD, MI — The main suspect in the Southfield shooting that claimed a mother’s life was found dead in Royal Oak Friday from a self inflicted gunshot.

"Mitchell Kitchens was the primary suspect in a shooting that resulted in the death of his ex-girlfriend, Daphnae Ramey.

"The shooting occurred Thursday at 6:54 p.m. on the 27000 block of Marshall Street in Southfield.

"Police report Kitchens shot Ramey in the doorway of her home where she lived with her two children, a 12-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy, both home when the shooting occurred.

"Kitchens’ motive is not known but Ramey’s family members say the two were arguing on the porch Thursday afternoon.

"Police found Kitchens near Vinsetta and 12 Mile Road in Royal Oak, just before 11:00 a.m. Friday."
