Pair Found Dead On Couch

"SHARON, SC — The York County Sheriff's Office is investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide, after concerned employees discovered the bodies of their deceased co-worker and her boyfriend.

"Deputies were called to the home on 2424 Creekside Drive in the town of Sharon on Monday morning at 9:27 a.m. When deputies arrived, they found the bodies of 53-year-old Linda Anne Dixon and 45-year-old Jeffrey Duane Goldsmith with gunshot wounds to their heads.

"According to a Sheriff's report, Goldsmith and Dixon were both seated on a couch and had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Early indications are that Goldsmith shot and killed Dixon prior to taking his own life, deputies say. Deputies say that Goldsmith and Dixon, who were boyfriend and girlfriend, had been in a relationship for approximately seven years.

"The investigation began after deputies say Linda Dixon had not reported to work at Terminex in Rock Hill and concerned co-workers attempted to check on her at the residence. The co-workers told deputies that it was unusual for Dixon not to be at work, so they went to her home.

"The co-workers told deputies that they looked into her home through a side window after knocking on the front door and noticed two bodies lying on a couch. Deputies say Goldsmith was holding a handgun when he was found."
