"LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC — Authorities have identified the man, woman and children involved in an apparent murder-suicide that has shocked a Lexington County community.
"Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harmon said 27-year-old Amanda Hartley Peake and her two children, Cameron, 9, and Sarah, 6, died after being shot by Peake's estranged boyfriend, Chancey Foy Smith, 32, of Rabon Road in Lexington.
"Harman said it appears that Smith shot and killed Peake and her two children Tuesday night in her home on 149 Farm Chase Drive in the Red Bank area of Lexington County and then turned the gun on himself.
"Lexington County Sheriff's Major John Allard said Peake, her daughter, Sarah, and Smith died at the scene and Peake's son, Cameron, died on the way to the hospital.
"Deputies have not released the motive behind the shooting and have not determined if there were any previous reports of domestic violence between the couple.
"Allard said Smith was not the children's biological father.
"According to Amanda Peake's MySpace page, the children's biological father, Matthew Peake, died in a fire in 2007. Matthew Peake was a Fairfield County deputy and the two were married for 5 years before his death.
"Amanda Peake is a 2001 graduate of Pelion High School, according to her MySpace page.
"Autopsies will be performed to determine exact cause of death, Harman said.
"The Lexington County Sheriff's Department and the Lexington County Coroner's Office continues to investigate."

The victim's Facebook page...
If you checked out the victim's original Facebook page, you may have noticed that "someone" changed it. Obviously, it couldn't have been her.
ReplyDeleteThe original picture, which showed off a number of the victim's 61 tattoos (and other attributes), has disappeared entirely from the Internet.
That's really ridiculous, as if her tats had anything to do with what kind of person she was. While I didn't know her I have read some things that say she was an escort. In her defense though, it makes sense that after her husband died I think in 2004 in a house fire, she may have somewhat went off the deep end. Not to mention, single moms gotta put food on the table. So, it really makes sense that he may have found that out and did what he did. Of course, that or anything is no excuse to murder. It's tragic and worse because those two kids.
ReplyDeleteThey say her tats had nothing to do with who she was or her murder. Yet who killed her--Some biker guy she dated that was a member of a "Most Wanted" motorcycle gang and who publicly professed having a liking for "killing things." Maybe if she didn't have all those tats she wouldn't be relegated to having to date people who match that lifestyle, liked tatted-up bikers and criminals. Amanda's "fashion" choices were obviously lifestyle choices too. And now her children are dead because of it. So sad.
