"Normal Family" Found Dead

"WINLOCK, WA — A mother, father and son were found dead in a home here Tuesday night in an apparent double murder-suicide.

"Detectives were called to a home in the 300 block of Frost Road at 9:15 p.m. after someone reported three people were dead inside.

"Upon arrival, they found the bodies of a 65-year-old woman, her 57-year-old husband and 18-year-old son, all dead from gunshot wounds.

"There were no signs of forced entry, leading detectives to investigate the incident as a double murder-suicide, but they have not determined who fired the shots. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

"Police say three family dogs and a family cat were also found dead inside the home.

"Lewis County Sheriff Steve Mansfield says they have no idea at this time what the motive was. He says they were a `normal family` with no history with law enforcement with the family, no domestic violence calls, and no drug issues. Relatives also said they have no clue what might have prompted the shooting, Mansfield said.

"Relatives told detectives they hadn't heard from the family since Sunday night. On Tuesday, a family member went to check on them and found the scene.

"The victims' names have not been released, but Mansfield says the family runs a small trucking company."
