Traffic Stop Brings Closure To Murder/Suicide

"MANGUM, OK — Two people are dead in rural southwestern Oklahoma, and authorities are investigating it as a murder-suicide.

"Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown said Lorhetta Sue Ketchersid, 55, did not show up for work Tuesday.

"Friends and family began searching for her, and her pastor found her body about 6 p.m. Tuesday on her property on 20280 E1340 Rd. along a river bank in Kiowa County.

"Troopers began searching for Joseph Dhayer, 44, of Mangum, who they believed was a person of interest. Dhayer was pulled over in his vehicle at noon Wednesday in Mangum by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and immediately shot himself in the head, Brown said.

"He died at the scene.

"Brown said it isn’t known what relationship Ketchersid and Dhayer had. A deputy who answered the phone at the Kiowa County Sheriff’s office declined to comment."
