Couple Had No Known Problems

"EAGLE POINT, OR — The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible murder suicide on the 2200 block of Butte Falls Highway.

"Deputies say the 911 call came in around 6 p.m.

"Investigators say the two dead are a male and a female. Carlson says the female died of a gun shot wound and the male died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound. Detectives are investigating it as a murder suicide.

"Carlson says the family told investigators the man and woman were boyfriend and girlfriend and had just broken up.

"The Sheriff's Department believes the man is from Eureka, California. The female lived on the property where the bodies were found. Investigators do not think anyone else was in the home when the two died.

"Carlson says the female's family has told detectives that they did not know of any problems between the two prior to the recent break-up or after, until now.

"Investigators believe the male was a firefighter in Eureka. No names or ages have been released."
