"MONROE, NC — Monroe police were investigating a possible murder-suicide this weekend after an elderly couple was found fatally shot in their home.

"The shootings occurred at a home on 1234 Rosa Drive in Monroe early Saturday. The deceased were identified as 70-year-old Charles Frech and his wife, Martha, 65.

"Monroe police declined comment on Sunday, saying further details would be released on Monday.

"[It was reported] police found notes written by Charles Frech in which the man said he’d `shot the love of his life.` He then allegedly turned the gun on himself."
