Paramour Problems Incite Murder, Fire, & Suicide

"NORTH HEIDELBERG TWP, PA — A woman in western Berks County set fire to her home killing herself in an apparent attempt to cover-up the beating death of her 11-year-old daughter, state police said.

"Donna Evans, 39, and her daughter, Madison, were pronounced dead at the home in North Heidelberg Township Sunday.

"The state police Major Case Team based in Reading is investigating the deaths.

"A news release said Donna Evans bludgeoned her daughter to death because she was distraught after `her paramour` ended their relationship.

"State police said Donna Evans first killed her daughter and then set fire to their home at 2331 Brownsville Drive, and the fire apparently killed her. The house is located outside of Robesonia about 12 miles northwest of Reading and about 45 miles southwest of Allentown.

"Autopsies are scheduled to confirm the cause and manner of their deaths, which state police have classified as a homicide and a suicide."
