"She Was Covered In Blood"

"WEST JORDAN, UT — A quiet West Jordan neighborhood was left stunned Wednesday following an attempted murder- suicide of a mother and her 18-year-old daughter.

"The daughter was killed in the double shooting at 8366 S. Bard Lane (1320 West), West Jordan Police Sgt. Drew Sanders said. The girl's mother was transported by ambulance in `very serious` condition with a gunshot wound to her head.

"Police said the woman drove down the street and began honking her car horn at the home of a neighbor around 10:50 a.m.

"`She was covered in blood and said she'd shot herself and her daughter,` Sanders said.

"The woman asked her neighbor to call 911 and then drove back to her home, where police found her in the car in her driveway. Sanders said she had a bullet wound to her head and it is unclear if she will live.

"`I don't know,` he said. `People do survive (those injuries).`

"Police obtained a search warrant about 2 p.m. and entered the home, which is being treated as a crime scene. The two women were believed to be the only people in the home at the time of the shooting.

"It is unclear if anyone else lives there.

"Sanders said the motive for the shooting was unclear. Police identified the handgun they believe was used in the shooting."
