Argument Ends In Gunfire

"SANTA CRUZ, CA — Santa Cruz County investigators are calling the shooting that killed two people in Santa Cruz a murder-suicide.

"Deputies said officers found Gayle Mozee-Baum, 54, and James Baum, 61, near the roadway by their home at Lucca Lane and Soquel Drive at 11 p.m. Thursday.

"Deputies said Gayle Baum shot and killed her husband with a handgun after an argument before turning the gun on herself.

"The gun was recovered at the scene of the shooting.

"According to family and friends, the Baum's were recently separated and James Baum was living at a home near the crime scene, deputies said.

"The motive for Gayle Baum killing her husband is being investigated, sheriff's officials said."
