Mother, Son Dead In "Terrible Tragedy"

"GODFREY, IL — Investigators say the deaths of a mother and her son whose bodies were found in their Godfrey home Tuesday, were murder-suicide.

"Autopsies have determined that 92 year old Marion Yancey and her 62 year old son Robert Yancey, both died of single gunshot wounds; Marion in a bedroom, Robert in the garage of the home they shared at 903 Robert Drive.

"Madison County Sheriff’s Department Captain Brad Wells is not confirming reports the Yancey’s were having a car repossessed, but he says financial issues may have been a factor in what he calls a `terrible tragedy.`

"The Yancey’s bodies were found by police, after a woman reportedly going to the home to repossess their car, didn’t get an answer at the door."
