Father And Son Dead In NY Murder/Suicide
"STATEN ISLAND, NY — A charred body found in a burned-out car on the Jersey Shore may be that of a Staten Island man police say stabbed his elderly father to death early Wednesday, police said.
"Harold Delmar Sr., 80, who was an invalid, was found near death inside his Staten Island home about 3:50 a.m., police said. The father had been stabbed in the neck and chest. He died at a nearby hospital.
"Investigators immediately focused attention on his son, Harold Delmar Jr., 45.
"`We were looking for the son,` Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.
"Kelly described the son as homeless and living in a tent in the back yard of his parents' home on Mason Ave. in Midland Beach.
"`He fled in a car,` Kelly said. `That car has been found in Bayville, New Jersey. The car was set on fire, and there was a body inside that car in the driver's seat.`
"Investigators have yet to confirm that the body is that of Delmar Jr., but the car was his, police sources said."
