"JENNINGS, LA — The third shooting within 24th hours in Acadiana happened Thursday night in Jennings.

"It happened around 9:30 at the corner of North Nezpique Street and North Craig Street.

"Police say when they arrived at the scene they found a woman shot in the chest and a man dead from a gunshot wound.

"The female victim was taken to the hospital where police were able to talk to her. Police believe they know the cause of the shooting.

"`The investigation is continuing, but at this time it appears to be an attempted murder-suicide case. But we're going to follow this case by the numbers. We're going to be sure that we give the true facts of the forensic evidence that we've discovered` says Jennings Police Chief Todd DA'labor.

"The female victim at last report remains in ICU recovering from her injuries."
