Three Dead After "Domestic Situation"
"ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — Elk Grove Village police are investigating an apparent double slaying and suicide.
"Deputy Police Chief Michael Kirkpatrick said the deaths appear to be related to a domestic situation.
"Two bodies—a man and a woman—were found in a basement apartment of a condominium complex in the 100 block of Boardwalk Street, and the body of a man was found in a burned out van in a nearby soccer field.
"The murder suspect and suicide victim is a man in his 50s, who was found dead in the van.
"The female victim was apparently in her 50s and the man about 22, officials said.
"Police said they received a call reporting gunshots at 7:30 a.m. Upon arrival, police found the man in the van, who shot himself as police approached, Kirkpatrick said. After the man shot himself, the van caught fire, he said.
"Officers forced entry into the condo and found the two victims shot to death.
"Authorities had not yet retrieved a weapon late this morning and said it's likely still in the van.
"Police said no one else was involved and there is no public safety threat."
