6 Hour Standoff Ends In Murder/Suicide

"FOUNTAIN, CO — A man in his early 20s and a toddler were found dead Monday evening in a Fountain home after six-hour standoff, which ensued when a woman was shot outside the house.

"The shooting happened shortly after police were called around 2:24 p.m. to the residence to tend to a disturbance, said Fountain police Chief Todd Evans.

"Moments later, a woman was shot as she fled from the house, witnesses said.

"Evans said Shannon Paolini was in the intensive care unit after undergoing surgery.

"Meanwhile, the man ran back in the house and there were more shots.

"A SWAT team entered the home about 8:25 p.m. and found the man and the child dead."
