SWAT Robot Finds Elderly Couple, Cat Dead

"LITTLE TORCH KEY, FL — An elderly man shot his wheelchair-bound wife and cat and then killed himself in their Florida Keys home Wednesday in what appears to be a murder-suicide, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

"Joan Tucker, 77, was killed of the first floor of her home on quiet Tortuga Road on Little Torch Key, a small island about 25 miles from Key West.

"Detectives believe she was shot by her husband, Glen Tucker, 81, who was found dead in an upstairs bedroom, along with the couple’s cat.

"A neighbor called police about 12 p.m., reporting he heard shots fired. Monroe County deputies responded, but did not immediately enter the brown house fearing an armed suspect could be inside.

"The Sheriff’s Office bomb squad sent a robot inside the house to determine the situation. Shortly after 1 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team entered and found the dead couple.

"Motives for the killings were not immediately known, according to the Sheriff’s Office."
