Wife Survives Botched Double Murder/Suicide

"ST LOUIS, MO — Police say the man who shot and killed his step daughter, wounded his wife, and then shot himself, has died.

"41 year old Lawrence Verble of 3730 Roswell Ave. died at a hospital this afternoon. He had what police called a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

"Just before 9 o’clock this morning Verble allegedly shot his wife and step daughter, both in the chest.

"16 year old Jessica Beckwith died of her wound. Verble’s wife survived and is listed in critical but stable condition.

"Police were called to the home this morning when Verble’s wife ran to a neighbor’s home telling them she and her daughter had been shot.

"Police say the motive is unclear."
