Restaurant Bystander Shoots Back During Murder/Suicide

"PIERRE PART, LA — A 51-year-old opened fire in a La. 70 restaurant this morning, killing his ex-girlfriend and wounding another customer.

"Paul French, 114 Derrick St., Lot B, Pierre Part, shot 42-year-old Michelle Borer, 134 Mary Ann St., Lot A, Pierre Part, multiple times at Landry's Seafood Restaurant, 3614 La. 70, Assumption sheriff's deputies said. French allegedly shot Borer, a waitress at the restaurant, multiple times, with a handgun before shooting himself in the head, police said.

"When French began firing his handgun, a man eating at the restaurant began shooting to defend other patrons, deputies said. French and the man continued to exchange gunfire outside of the restaurant, and the man was shot in the abdomen, police said.

"Borer was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

"Borer had filed a protective order against French that was in effect until next year, and French was arrested earlier this month for violating that order, police said.

"French was also convicted of possession of cocaine in 2006 and was on probation at the time of his death, court records show."

  2. The other guy was actually my father. He unloaded on that piece of sh*t. He was it 5 times. My father is in the hospital and the bullet didn't hit any organs. They are keeping him for a few days to make sure everything is ok.

  3. Well, Michele was my sister and best friend. I knew Paul French personally and he was continuously calling me asking for help to get him back together with my sister. I begged him to get help through a psychologist in which he had informed me he was already getting help.

The morning I heard about this news, I was getting an estimate to have a 12 x 21 room added on my home in order to get my sister away from his madness. On her calendar, at her trailer, had been circled on the 19th of May, "Gone!"

On the 16th of May, I had this really bad feeling and text my sister to "get out!" See replied, 4 more days.

As far as Bob, the guy who tried to help my sister, our family considers him a true "Hero!" I am glad that he is doing a lot better since the tragedy.

As far as wondering how my sister could have been safer, there were a lot of notes written on the walls in the trailer that my sister let Paul French live in for free. He actually had a count down inside on all the walls saying "D-Day" If his probation officer would have taken a little visit to the trailer, then he would have seen all the 45 cal shell casing laying all over the front door to the right where he had been practicing for his moment. He would have also seen all the crap written on the walls raising a red flag to have him committed.

I was also told that everyone witnessed Paul drive to the Hardware store down the street a few blocks from the place and noticed him parked suspiciously for about 15 minutes right before he drove to Landry's.

While I was there in Pierre Part cleaning up my sisters belongings with her children, I was told at almost every store in the area that I went to, that they heard Paul French state he was going to kill her. I asked everyone who told me that statement, why didn't you call the police, everyone told me that they didn't take him serious.

My sister told me in person 2 weeks prior to this, that she thought Paul was going to kill her. I begged her to leave and come stay with me but it didn't happen.

For the record, I forgive Paul, because I know he was mentally ill.

I will never be able to replace Michele for as long as I live. Until the day when I get to join her, she will be forever missed in my heart.

I also have the song Paul wrote for Michele. We recorded it together but I haven't decided if I wanted to release it or not.

    Her brother, Eddie
