Three Dead After Dispute Ends In Gunfire

"FAIRFIELD, CA — A long-simmering dispute among roommates in Fairfield erupted today in shootings that left three dead and one injured.

"Police learned of the violence inside a house at 5245 Venus Drive when the injured man called 911 at 12:08 p.m. to say that he'd been shot, said Fairfield Police Officer Cleo Mayoral. The police arrived to find a man and woman dead and another man with life-threatening wounds. The fourth resident of the home, who had made the call, had been shot in the foot.

"The seriously injured man - who police say shot the other three with a semi-automatic handgun and then fired upon himself - was pronounced dead upon arrival at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.

"`Apparently there's been a lot of tension in the house. These people lived together and they didn't get along,` Mayoral said, adding that the suspected killer had been presented with a civil order filed by another resident the day before.

"Mayoral did not go into details about the court order or past incidents, but did say that `our indication is that there was no romantic relationship between the victims.`"
