Five Dead After Quadruple Murder/Suicide & Fire

"AMMON, ID — At about 2:45 a.m. this morning, police and fire officials received a call about a house fire. But when they arrived on scene, they found themselves faced with a murder/suicide case.

"Melina Kern, 19, Michelle Kern, 22, and Michelle's two children Jack,3, and Gage, 1, were pronounced dead on the scene.

"The murderer is said to be Michelle's former boyfriend Gaylin Leirmoe, 26, who turned the gun on himself after setting the basement on fire.

"Gretyl Ann Gardner/Neighbor, `I woke up in the night and I heard some kind of unnatural, loud, crashing... exploding. I'm not sure. Loud sounds. I couldn't see anything that looked unusual except for there was a car parked out front. My husband said, 'That car doesn't belong there.'`

"That car belonged to Gaylin Leirmoe who murdered the victims before turning the gun on himself.

"Sergeant Jeff Edwards/Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, `The fire was set by we believe the person that shot himself in the home to get rid of evidence.`"
