2 Dead, 5 Injured After Shooting Rampage

"GAINESVILLE, FL — Investigators searched for evidence on Tuesday after a gunman embarked on a shooting spree that left one person dead and five others injured before the assailant took his own life.

"Authorities held a news conference Tuesday morning and said the shootings were not random. The gunman was identified as 24-year-old Clifford Miller Jr.

"Investigators said Miller shot six people in five different locations. Police said Miller shot and killed his father, then drove his father's truck to the five other shooting locations before returning home and killing himself.

"Friends said Miller had serious mental health problems.

"Investigators said the shooter knew all of the victims, but did not give further details.

"Investigators said they will speak with the victims who survived to determine what prompted the shooting. All of the victims are being treated at Shands Hospital.

"According to the Alachua County Clerk of Court website, Miller had an extensive arrest record, including drug, burglary and battery charges, but he had never been found mentally competent to stand trial."
