They Came For The Funeral
"BEVIL OAKS, TX — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder-suicide in Bevil Oaks involving two older brothers, according to Sheriff Mitch Woods, in what could be the second such case in a matter of days.
"The men were in town to attend a family funeral. They were shot at about 1 a.m. Tuesday in the 13400 block of Alaskan Drive off Highway 105 in Bevil Oaks.
"Sheriff Woods told KFDM News the two brothers, one in his early 60's and the other in his late 60's, came from out of town to attend a funeral and were staying at their sister's home.
"`There was some sort of argument,` said Sheriff Woods. `Alcohol was involved. We're not exactly certain what they were arguing about. One man pulled a handgun and shot his brother. Their sister called 911. While she was on the phone with our dispatcher, another shot was fired. The man killed himself.`
"One of the brothers was from Tomball.
"Justice of the Peace Ray Chesson is conducting the inquest.
"The Sheriff's Office is also investigating the Friday night shooting of a husband and wife in Central Gardens. It might be a murder-suicide but the Sheriff's Office said it must gather more facts before a final determination is made. "
