"All We Heard Was Them Screaming And Hollering"

"CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a murder-suicide that happened early Sunday morning.

"Officers received a call just after 1 a.m. about a shooting at a home on 2429 Anna Garrison Road. When they arrived at the scene, a man and woman were found dead inside the home.

"Investigators identified the victim as Rebecca Robertson, 31, and the shooter as Barry Leake, 39. Police said Leake shot Robertson before killing himself.

"Police discovered six children inside the home, and said that the children were there when the shooting happened. Officers said three of the children belonged to Robertson and the other three children belong to the victim's sister, who was also inside the house.

"One neighbor said the children's safety was her number one concern.

"`We just got the kids out of the house because we didn't know all we heard was them screaming and hollering,` said Lethia Thomas.

"Child Development through the Community Policing (CDCP) were called to the home, along with the Mobile Crisis Unit to assist."
