Domestic Situation Leads To Road Rage

"NOBLESVILLE, IN — A woman was run off the road before being shot and killed in a Noblesville subdivision by a man who later shot himself, police said.

"The shooting happened just after 5 p.m. Monday in the Meadows of Shelbourne at Deer Path subdivision in the 15000 block of Dry Creek Road near Verizion Wireless Music Center.

"Police said a man ran a woman off the road, got out of his vehicle and shot her. She was later pronounced dead.

"`I told my wife it looked like somebody shot through the window. I could see somebody slumped over in the car and didn't look they were alive,` said neighbor Mike Haffey.

"A vehicle matching the description of the shooter was located on Interstate 465 near U.S. 31 a short time later. But by the time officers reached the vehicle, the driver had shot himself, police said.

"He was transported to Methodist Hospital. Initial reports that he had died were incorrect. His condition was not released Monday night.

"Investigators said the shooting appeared to be the result of a domestic situation. It's the first slaying in Noblesville in four years.

"`It's a very shocking incident to have to walk out into your neighborhood and see a vehicle that's riddled with bullets as this one is down here,` said Lt. Bruce Barnes.

"`It's unfortunate. It's tragic.`

"`Something like this happens somewhere else, not Noblesville,` said neighbor Kristy Boyer.

"Further details were not immediately released."
