"Suicidal" Man Not Suicidal Enough
"MESA, AZ — Mesa police are investigating a homicide in northeast Mesa in which a suicidal man is suspected of killing his wife and then fleeing toward Mexico.
"The suspect, Robert Benoit, 42, turned himself in to the Huachuca City Police Department and is being brought back to Mesa for booking, according to Mesa police Sgt. Ed Wessing.
"The victim has been identified as Joy Dockendorf, 37.
"Officers were dispatched to a home on East Sierra Morena about 3:10 p.m. Saturday after police received a phone call from a woman in Connecticut who said her son had killed his wife and was now contemplating suicide.
"Police treated the scene as a barricade situation, and after an hour, the tactical team entered the home and found Dockendorf's body. She appeared to have suffered a fatal gunshot wound, police said. Benoit was not in the house.
"When detectives contacted Benoit on his cellphone, he claimed he was suicidal and heading for Mexico, according to Wessing. Detectives convinced Benoit to turn himself in and are bringing him back to Mesa for booking."

Mr. Benoit has committed suicide... Is that suicidal enough for you, Smart Ass?
ReplyDeleteI agree. He did commit suicide so leave your "Smart Ass" comments to someone else. Very rude and "non-facted" article. Shame on you.
